What is cultural organizing?
Cultural organizing is the strategic use of art, and culture to organize for liberation. By centering the stories and experiential knowledge of people most directly impacted by the issues, artists and community members work in collaboration understanding the multifaceted power of art. Cultural organizers include relationships, developing new leadership and reconceptualizing power as part of their principles that lead art-making and community collaboration.

#NoKidsinPrison digital experience launch film
Youth leaders from our Youth Ambassador Squad & RISE for youth made a film to call adults to take action against youth incarceration.
During the heart of the pandemic we created a multimedia immersive web experience designed as an educational and organizing tool that takes viewers from the history of youth incarceration to a future world where all youth are free. The experience was created in collaboration with youth leaders impacted by the justice system in partnership with Youth First and Columbia Youth Justice Lab.

The power of art is most galvanizing in our neighborhoods and city street! For this reason we’ve worked with organizers across Richmond, VA to create an annual parade calling everyone in the city to come to gather to end youth incarceration.
